ARS-200 2.5kg lightweight integrated airborne LiDAR system with 330m measurement range and 15mm @150m range accuracy

ARS-200 lightweight airborne LiDAR system is a Riegl LiDAR based system which developed and built by Hi-Cloud. ARS-200 airborne LiDAR system takes the multi rotor UAV platform as the carrier, integrates high-precision laser scanner, HD camera, GPS, IMU and other sensors, and synchronously obtains 3D laser point cloud, positioning and attitude data and image data with the support of independent intellectual property time synchronization technology and integrated multi-sensor integration technology.

Main Features:

  • Leightweight -- The equipment is light and compact, with a weight of only 2.5kg.
  • Integration -- The equipment integrates high-precision 3D laser scanner, GPS, IMU and other sensors. After packaging, the size is small and easy to carry.
  • Multi platforms -- It supports a variety of carrier platforms. According to different industry directions and application scenarios, it can be used with UAV, automobile and backpack.
  • Short range -- If the area to be measured is flat and the terrain fluctuation is small, there is no need for an expensive long-range laser measurement system, and the range of the equipment is sufficient to meet the demand.
  • High precision -- The ranging accuracy of 15mm can be achieved at 150m ranging, and the fluctuation deviation of the results is better than 10mm under the condition of repeated measurement of the same target.

Highway survey application

Project Overview: The main line of the project is about 8km long. The survey area is mainly mountainous terrain, with an average altitude of 600m. The river crosses the survey area, and the altitude drop in some areas is large. The vegetation in the survey area is lush, mostly evergreen broad-leaved forest and low shrubs.

Project Requirement: The main task of the project is airborne LiDAR survey and point cloud processing of the certain section of the highway. The mean square error of point cloud elevation is required to be less than 15 cm.

Project Difficulties: The traditional surveying and mapping operation is more dangerous because of the traffic on the highway. It is difficult for GNSS receiver to receive satellite signals due to dense vegetation and large altitude drop in the survey area.

ARS-200 airborne LiDAR system is applied in this project. After trajectory calculation, point cloud combine and other data processing processes, the point cloud result is as follow:
